10 Mind-Blowing Visions of Alien Life

In our podcast episode "Grizzly Bears from Outer Space," Joe and I discuss the morphological possibilities for life elsewhere in the galaxy, as well as a few standout science fiction visions of what alien anatomy might consist of. In keeping with this, let's explore 10 notable examples of fictional extraterrestrial life. They underline what might be possible when we take out understanding of life on earth and gaze upward into the void.

Of course, as we discuss in the episode, some cosmologists actually argue in favor of the Star Trek (or perhaps Conehead) model for largely humanoid intelligent extraterrestrial life. Our only model for life involves the technological ascension of bipedal mammals. Perhaps that's the winning design elsewhere in the galaxy as well, but let's turn our attention to more exotic forms...
